How to create a S.m.a.r.t 90 day new years goal challenge!

HAPPY NEW YEARS :) Time for our 90 day New Years goal challenge to create goals we can actually accomplish! Non-of this "I want to workout EVERYDAY," or "I want to lose 50 pounds before my daughters wedding in March" stuff -those goals are unattainable and don't follow the S.M.A.R.T guidelines.  The reason I put 90 days in front of the New Years CHALLENGE is because 90 days is a timely and realistic goal time frame as opposed to a year.  Also, a resolution is a firm decision to do something, and sure we can all make a decision to want to do something, but HOW we will achieve that decision is the important part.  This is why I create 90 day challenges, as this implies the challenge will be met in a certain amount of time with guidelines to follow.

How many times have you made a New Years resolution and not achieved it?  Personally,  this became a reoccurring theme for me and that was because one, I did not create S.M.A.R.T goals; two, I always made my goals about exercise or weight loss; and three, I made it a New Years Resolution that quickly became unrealistic as my goals were forgotten when there were no benchmarks or accountability set.

So what exactly is a S.M.A.R.T goal? It's one that is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely.  These S.M.A.R.T goals provide you with an attainable challenge with a hopeful sustainable outcome while holding you accountable but allowing "life to happen."

Try and make these goals important to you and your health (mental, physical and/or emotional), which does not necessarily mean every goal needs to be around weight.  I enjoy creating goals that focus on other aspects of my health rather than weight loss and/or exercising.  I enjoy creating challenges that maybe I used to do in my past that once made me happy, continuing education, stress relief and/or self-care, etc.  Below are some examples.

Example 1: Save at least 100$ every pay check to pay off my student loans in x amount of years.  Or save 10$ each week to have an extra $520 saved in order to buy plane tickets to go home for Christmas 2019.
Example 2: Go to church at least 3 Sunday's of each month.
Example 3: Read one book related to my major/job, or how to improve my life each month.
Example 4: Eat out no more than once a week.  Of course if you eat out once a day currently, once a week is not reasonable; I would start at no more than three times a week.
Example 5: Minimize my screen time to only 2-3 hours a day during the week.
Example 6: Drink 8 cups, or 64 ounces of water each day. (Rule of thumb, you want to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water). If you weigh 150 pounds you'll want to drink 75 ounces or 9.5 cups of water each day!

CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO: write down your goals and write down how you intend to accomplish them.  Whether that be to create an agenda each week, buy a gallon jug or cute 32 ounce water bottle, pre-order books, write sticky note reminders around the house, etc. YOU CAN DO THIS :)) Make this the year that you actually reach your quarterly goals and achieve your challenges.

MY PERSONAL GOALS FOR THE NEXT 90 DAYS:
  1. Read at least two nutrition related books to further my education.
  2. Improve my Beautifull Profit engagement through batching my work each month.
I am a huge proponent of creating healthy lifestyle goals! Goals that will help me be a better and healthier person each month.  Overall, the best way to reaching your goals are to create mini goals within your goals, e.g. I will have my first book picked out by January 1st with a deadline on when I need to finish it by to start my next book.

Leave me comments with one of your 90 day New Years goals!
