You'll never guess! The sweetest man in my life surprised me with a trip to Florida and the whole family and work was in on it. Side note: LOL at the fact that everyone and their mother thought I was coming back/came back engaged. How blessed am I to have someone so amazing in my life? Basically this trip was because Craig and I have been extremely busy and have had a lot going on in our lives this year, a lot good, but also a lot of time spent apart. We continued to be long distance until late August, I was studying hard core for a solid month to pass my RD exam, we moved in together, I started a new job then my blog, we moved again, then Craig was studying for a few months for his Chiropractic boards, the list goes on. Wanna hear the low down?
About a month ago, my mom texted me asking if Craig and I wanted to watch Jack (our dog) while they went to Charleston, SC. Well this isn’t an abnormal request considering my parents go to Charleston once a year and do many spontaneous trips like this, so of course I said yes. Well come Friday, I get home from work and Craig has already had the car packed, so I packed up a few of my last things and we hit the road.
After panicking of everything I had planned to do this weekend and everyone I had to contact, and realizing I didn’t have any Florida weather clothes, all was good because I realized the love of my life did everything he could to surprise me and he succeeded. Also it was only 65-75 degrees all weekend, so the clothing situation worked out.
Thinking back on it all now…
TIP OFF NUMBER 1: About two months ago, I came outside of the room to get water after I said I was going to bed and Craig stood straight up and closed his computer halfway –super sketchy!
TIP OFF NUMBER 2: The director of nursing at work had said to me a week weeks back, “Aren’t you going to Florida?” I said no… She replied, “I swore someone told me you were going to Florida. I just responded, “nope, not me, must be someone else,” but she was so persistent on it.
TIP OFF NUMBER 3: Craig always being cautious of his phone and whenever I was looking at it
TIP OFF NUMBER 4: Craig’s phone was on the counter the night before we were leaving and my mom texted him a novel and all I saw was just put it in a plastic bag, so I stopped reading and Craig responded oh, I have to bring a present home for you.
TIP OFF NUMBER 5: Why are we taking the Greenville, SC exit? We’re supposed to be going to Charlotte….
Let's talk about my Walking Challenge journey. Craig and I started out strong, then Craig started studying a lot more for boards, so I lost my walking buddy. This is my biggest struggle; I need accountability. Exercising by myself is one of my weaknesses, as I have very low motivation to exercise. I know you all expect me to tell you I walked everyday for 20 minutes and feel amazing and lost weight and blah blah blah, but that is not realistic as life happens. This is a main point that I want to drive into you guys, especially with the New Year approaching. No one is perfect, we all have excuses and struggles, and we all go through life. This being said, life can throw curveballs at us everyday, and some days we are exhausted, feel sick, don't get home until 9 pm and still have to make dinner. I understand, which is why I want to talk about proper goal making, and how this challenge was an UNREALISTIC challenge. When you make a challenge you need to make a S.M.A.R.T goal, one that is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. A S.M.A.R.T Walking Challenge would have been: Walk for 10-20 minutes at least 4-5 days a week while documenting each day you walked, for how long, and how you felt before and after. These S.M.A.R.T goals provide you with an attainable challenge while holding you accountable and allowing "life to happen." I have had days where I walked more than 20 minutes, I have had days where I didn't walk outside at all, I've had days where I walked with my boyfriend, and days where I have walked by myself. I felt much worse (mentally) about myself when I did not go on a walk, vs. when I did go on a walk especially when I got on a roll with hitting a certain number of days in a row of completing the challenge.
After the rehearsal at The Watson House, The rehearsal dinner was held at Caribsea and tasted delicious. They had a private room for us that was the perfect size for everyone to be able to see each other and socialize. After our delicious entrees and some wine we were served dessert! From here, there was a sectioned off welcome party on the rooftop bar!
All I have to say is this was a wedding we won't forget, but you will truly only understand how beautiful and how much fun and full of love this wedding was if you were there, so I will try and take you back a couple weeks to September 16th, but keep in mind my pictures won't do it justice!
The (beautiful) Watson House
If you are looking for a wedding venue near Emerald Isle or the water, I highly recommend The Watson House through Dream Makers Wedding Estates. The Watson's and their staff were some of the most genuine and generous individuals, who truly cared about us and wanted to make the day perfect for Alley and Torrey. Us girls got there early and they provided us with plenty of space to get ready, breakfast, snacks throughout the day, mimosas, lunch and many laughs. They were so welcoming, and truly made us feel as though their home was ours. We were even able to leave all of our stuff overnight to come get in the morning!
Miami Bachelorette Weekend
If you're still reading, I surprised Allie, the stunning Bride-to-be, at the time, for her Bachelorette weekend in Miami! I had been so up and down about going, only due to the fact of just having finished my dietetic internship and had been without a job for about a year, but I finally told myself you know what she's only going to get married one time, which means one amazing bachelorette weekend! This is also the day I truly realized that money is nothing but money and you can always make more of it, something Craig tried to teach me a long time ago. I would rather have the time of my life and make memories with the people I love the most than to regret not having those experiences only because I thought I needed to save money! That being said, I do not recommended blowing your money, but rather save it for future events that you do not have to miss out on! Having this realization, I think to myself how did I ever think about not going to Miami?? Check out the surprise video on my instagram @beautifullprofit, and look through the slideshow below for a sneak peek of our amazing weekend with amazing people, weather, and food!

10 STEPS TO PLANNING THE BEST BACHELORETTE PARTY!
My best friend and twin from college asked me to be her MOH! We celebrated her by throwing her an amazing Bachelorette weekend and wedding shower (stay tuned)! Talk about an eventful weekend :) Read below for some amazing tips to help make the next bachelorette weekend a success for your deserving bride!
Step 1: Talk with the bride to see what she would prefer to do vs. what she wouldn't want to do. Also, ask her what her ideal location and weekend would be! You want to make sure the bride picks the date and location before you start jumping to conclusions. If she tells you she could care less, or wants you to plan everything, then do what is most practical for the the situation, the bride and the bridal party!
Step 2: Collect all the bridal party's information and phone numbers. When you have a large bridal party, I found it easiest to have one or two people make most of the plans to avoid getting frustrated with no one answering or potentially too many responses.
Step 3: RESEARCH. After you have your destination you will want to first look into a place to stay. Airbnb's are cheap these days, especially when you are able to split it with a bunch of girls. Hotels work if your going anywhere or if you may want to hang out by the pool or go to rooftop pool parties, maybe in Vegas. After you've checked a place to stay off your list, you'll want to move to step 4.
Step 4: MORE RESEARCH. Now its time to research fun and exciting things to do in the area. The fun things you choose should be based off the talk you had with your bride in Step 1, and this will also test your friendship to see how well you know your bride.
1. Does she like to party all day and night?
2. Would she rather hang out on the beach all day?
3. Is she against strippers, or would she be into that?
4.Would she want to go to a Wine & Design/DIY class?
5. Does she love to cook, or want to learn? Cooking Class
6. Is her favorite artist/performer in town? Concert tickets
7. Take her to her favorite dinner place or food selection!
8. Pole Dancing Studio or a Belly Dancing Class?
9. Ride a Pub Trolley or go to a Comedy Club
10. Does she love sports? Game dayyyyy!
11. Does she love wine? Vineyard time
12. Salon or Spa Day!
Step 5: Plan. Plan. Plan, and plan some more. This is where your organizational skills will come into play. Once you have an idea of what would make this the best weekend for your bride, you start organizing the weekend of what would be the best scenario based on times, money, and locations. Once you have a base line plan, start making phone calls money bags! Haha this is where it gets spendy, but just make sure after each purchase you ask each of the girls to venmo you money, so you don't end up forking out $500+, unless of course you're okay with that! #1 RULE: The bride pays for nothing this trip!! Meaning, you will split all of costs by one less than the total number of people attending!
Step 6: DECORATIONS with PERSONALIZATIONS! The best part; time to get creative! This was by far my favorite part of planning the bachelorette party!
*Plan to have each girl bring 1-2 lingerie items that you can string from twine and hang as decor!
*Put funny decorations around the house. I blew up embarrassing pictures of the fiance and posted them all over the house and made funny table cards for the meals we had with quotes based on his facial expression. You could even make tattoos of his face!
*Tassels are in & cute balloons make any party better!
*Have a cute backdrop for pics!
*Small, personalized touches make everything better!
*Purchase or find bachelorette party games to play at the house!
*Have gifts for the girls. You don't have to, but it's always a nice touch since everyone is traveling, and have been putting up with your endless emails/texts!
Monogrammed sand cup holders (beach), cute floaty cup holders (pool)
Matching T-shirts, tanks or headbands
Glow sticks and/or blinking rings
Candy, Personalized Cookies
Boas, Beads, Sashes
Bride Tribe tattoos
Step 7: Create and send out an itinerary to everyone involved with everything that will be going on that weekend, with times, locations and addresses/check in and check out times, outfits that need to be worn, any moneys people still owe and/or any extra/hidden costs that people might spend: dinner costs, drinks, ubers, food/snacks for the house, etc.
Step 8: Before the weekend begins, contact each event to make sure times, monies and locations are all set in place and there are not going to be any surprise issues the day of. Also, contact each bridal party member to remind them of the items they are accountable for bringing!
Step 9: Make sure everyone is fed and full at all times! If you need help with making/buying any food or drinks for the food at home, make sure you ask the girls! They will likely be willing to help out :)
Step 10: PARTTTTTTY!
